I'm in this stage of life where I'm finding out that the things that I used to enjoy as a teenager (e.g. hanging out at home, playing video games all the time, loving introversion) aren't fun any more and I've just found this rush of doing things with people who love life. Over this last year or so I've rediscovered my passion for the outdoors. All of this past spring, summer and whats been this fall I've done a great deal of hiking, camping, longboarding, swimming and climbing whenever I can. I draw a lot of inspiration from beautiful things so I find a lot of comfort being outside.
When I find myself indoors though, I'll either be writing, working on photography or playing music. Writing is the greatest thing ever because it's so portable. You can write anywhere you go, but it's nice when you can sit down somewhere that you feel is good and unload everything. Like the Lord Byron quote says "If i don't write to empty my mind, I go mad." I take my camera around with me quite a bit because I like to capture things that I see and share them with people that weren't around when I saw them. I like to travel a lot, so I'll go places that I know my friends haven't been to and take pictures to share the experiences.
Music is a big part of my life. I've always had some sort of association with either a choir or band or some sort of instrument since I was young. I first started out by playing the saxophone and then later on in life joined a school choir. But because I couldn't read sheet music, I stopped playing sax and just muscled my way through middle school and high school chorales. Because I couldn't read music on paper, I decided to pick up drumming because all you need to have to be a drummer rhythm. I stuck with that for a couple of years but then I picked up guitar, which I have taught myself how to play by ear over the past 5 years. Out of this I've been playing in coffee houses, jam bands and I've even been asked to join the Columbus Songwriters Association. Music is a way for me to really pour a lot of who I am and what I feel into anyone who's listening.
I really like staying active. Recently I ran warrior dash and the Columbus half marathon and right now I'm training for all three spartan challenges and next year's half marathon.
I love God. He's the reason why I get up in the morning. I attribute everything that I have to Him and I'm so grateful for all that He's done for me. I have one tattoo that says "Vires Per Fides" which is Latin for "Strength through faith".
(I don't know if this means anything to you, but I just took a Myers-Briggs test today and found out that I'm an ENFJ.)
